Oman’s Largest Desalination Initiative:
Sogex Oman, in partnership with GS Inima, Spain and Al-Jomaih, KSA, is at the forefront of Oman’s largest desalination project—the Ghubrah III Independent Water Project (IWP). With a capacity of 300 MLD, this critical infrastructure project was tendered by OPWP to enhance the Sultanate’s water security.
To drive its development and operations, the consortium established Capital Desalination Company SAOC (CDCo), with Sogex holding equity stake.
Key Milestones
- February 25, 2024 – Water Purchase Agreement (WPA) signed between OPWP and CDCo.
- December 2024 – Financial Closure Achieved . All conditions precedent (CPs) met, marking a major step toward execution.
On Track for Successful Delivery
With all financial and contractual milestones secured, the project is progressing on schedule. Construction and operational timelines are fully aligned with OPWP’s expectations, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of Oman’s most advanced desalination facility.
